Non-fault accident but no insurance- where do I stand?
My boyfriend was involved in a non-fault road collision but was not insured at the time (silly him- I know). He was driving his motorbike at the speed limit on a 50mph road when a lady in a people carrier pulled out of a junction in front of him. He suffered dislocated kneecaps and severely broken ankle, amongst other injuries. He was told by the paramedics he was lucky that he had seen the lady pull out in time and managed to swerve out of the way slightly or he would have been a fatality for sure. The police gathered supporting witness statements and the driver said she simply had not seen him. Obviously he should have had insurance and has had to pay a fine for this, but is there any way he is entitled to compensation due to it being a non-fault? He suffered considerable injuries, had to take time off work (although he cut his cast off early as he couldn’t afford to be out of work longer) and his bike was written off. Would a solicitor be able to offer advice or is there no point chasing this as he wasn’t insured? Thanks"

I just bought a brand new bike and I live in Florida where bike theft is very big. I want to get some protection as soon as possible. Comprehensive insurance which would cover theft will run me about 730 per year with a 500 dollar deductible. The Lo Jack unit will cost me about 800 installed and it is a one time fee, no monthly payments and it lasts forever. The recovery rates on a bike with lojack are very good from what I’ve read, I just want to see what everyone thinks. These are the two options and please only answer if you have good knowledge of lojack and how well it works. The only problem is that it doesnt cover things such as damage during theft, storm damage, and things that the insurance would (Then again it still has that 500 or 1000 dollar deductible). Corporate no matter how many times I try, I can’t get my address changed. So anyway apparently a letter was sent to my dad about a balance that wasn’t able to be pulled, he knows nothing about it, but he did get the letter that was telling me they terminated my insurance until next enrollment. I’m pissed because like I said, this isn’t a matter of I couldn’t pay, this is a matter of we aren’t paid enough to cover it every month and they have been negligent about updating my information. It’s not the end of the world if I have to go til January until I have insurance again, but ironically the day I go to my doctor about an infection, my dad gives me the letter from the benefits office. Hello all I have had a US drivers license for 2 years now. I am going back to school and so I want to get rid of my car as I have no need for one. So If I sell my car and don’t have auto insurance for 2 years, when I come back after finishing school and try and get auto insurance will I be treated as a brand new driver?
